From Blizzard to Bay Breezes: Preparing for Summer 2026

There’s something about winter on Cape Cod that keeps us grounded, and the Blizzard of 2026 definitely made its presence known.

At the Blue Sea Motor Inn, we watched the snow pile up higher than we’ve seen in years. The drifts along the bayfront grew so tall they rivaled our sand dunes. The wind whipped across the water, the sky turned that familiar stormy gray, and for a few days, like many across the Cape, we lost power.

But we are still standing.

Winter is always our quieter season. As a seasonal business, this time of year gives us space to reset, regroup, and begin preparing for the summer ahead. We are not fully open right now, and we do not have set office hours during the off-season but we are available.

Our live chat on our website is active Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM, and you can always reach us by email at info@blueseamotorinn.com. We’re checking messages regularly and are happy to help with reservations or questions for the upcoming season.

Across Cape Cod, power is slowly being restored, and cleanup is underway. Snowbanks still tower along the roads, in some spots higher than our bayfront dunes, but underneath all that white is the shoreline we know and love. The same sunsets. The same salty air. The same peaceful mornings overlooking the water.

March is just around the corner, and with it comes that subtle shift we feel every year. A little more daylight. A little more warmth in the sun. And the growing excitement of Summer 2026.

We’ll soon begin the full cleanup and preparations for our anticipated guests. Fresh paint, refreshed rooms, and that unmistakable feeling that summer on the bay is almost here.

The Blizzard of 2026 may have slowed things down for a few days, but it didn’t shake our spirit. We’re looking forward to sunshine, to reopening in May for our summer season. 🌊
